About Us

The New York District holds its annual meeting at the District Convention, which is hosted by one of the local societies each year.  The New York District Rose Show is also held annually at the District Convention. The ARS Silver Honor Medal, ARS Outstanding Consulting Rosarian Award and ARS Outstanding Judge Award are presented at the District Convention.


The New York District is a non-profit educational organization affiliated with the American Rose Society. At 126 years old the American Rose Society is  the oldest single plant horticulture society in the United States and the oldest and largest national rose society in the world!  

The American Rose Society is comprised of 10 Regions and 18 Districts.  There are 9 Local Societies in the New York District:  The Greater Rochester Rose Society, Greater Toronto Rose Society, Long Island Rose Society, Manhattan Rose Society, Town of Newburgh Rose ClubSouthampton Rose Society, Southtowns Rose & Garden Society, Syracuse Rose Society, Western New York Rose Society.


The New York District is rich with many talented members who willingly give of their time and resources.  If you already grow roses, we welcome you as an old friend.  If your are thinking about growing roses, we encourage you to join the American Rose Society and a Local Society and discover the joy of growing roses.
